Madness is set to electrify the stage at Audley End in Essex with a massive outdoor performance as part of the 2024 Heritage Live Concert series!

Renowned for their energetic and lively live sets, Madness will headline on Friday, August 2nd, in the picturesque grounds of Audley End House & Gardens, nestled in the beautiful Essex countryside. Fans can look forward to a show brimming with hits from the Nutty Boys’ unparalleled back catalogue, as well as songs from their new album, ‘Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’est la Vie’, which recently became the band’s first studio album to top the UK Album Charts.

Joining Madness are special guests, the Lightning Seeds and the Old Time Sailors.

With iconic singles such as ‘One Step Beyond’, ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘House of Fun’, and ‘Our House’, Madness has cemented their status as one of the most celebrated British bands since their emergence from Camden Town in the 1970s. The band has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection in 2000.

The Lightning Seeds, the brainchild of writer, singer, guitarist, and producer Ian Broudie, are celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2024. The band’s debut album, ‘Cloudcuckooland’, featuring the hit single ‘Pure’, was released in 1989. Their second album, ‘Sense’, was followed by the seminal album ‘Jollification’ in 1994, which has sold nearly 1 million copies. The iconic single ‘3 Lions’, created for the England football team, has topped the charts multiple times since its release in 1996.

Opening the show, the Old Time Sailors will transport audiences back to the 19th century with their immersive seafaring music performed with traditional instruments.

The concerts at Audley End have become a staple in the summer events calendar, attracting locals from Essex and Cambridgeshire, as well as audience members from across the country.

Promoter Giles Cooper of GCE Live commented:

“2024 is set to be another vintage year for Heritage Live at Audley End. Madness are an absolute favourite for so many, and we are delighted to be hosting them this year for what will truly be a sensational show.”

  1. Madness were pure Madness!
Imagine the scene a beautiful stately home as a backdrop, a balmy summer evening and the crowd up for fun. Suggs and the boys didn’t let us down. The interplay with Suggs and Lee Jay Thompson was brilliant and led to such a fun evening. Classic and new songs rang from the stage with the crowd singing, dancing and chanting along with them. Thank you guys you were amazing, you truly cut across all generations. Long may you reign!
