It’s Madness

The 1990 release of “It’s Madness” by Virgin Records is a compilation album featuring iconic tracks by the British ska band Madness. Released on March 5, 1990, it marked a resurgence in interest after their split in 1986. The album includes 16 hits like “House of Fun,” “It Must Be Love,” “Embarrassment,” and “Baggy Trousers,” along with other fan favorites. This compilation showcased the band’s classic songs from their earlier albums and singles.

A notable error on the original release involves track 10. On the disc itself, track 10 is incorrectly listed as “Behind The Eight Ball”, a track which does not appear on the compilation. This mistake was acknowledged by the inclusion of stickers either on the case or the booklet, pointing out the error. The actual track on the disc for track 10 was “One’s Second Thoughtlessness” from the Madness single “Wings of a Dove”, and the sticker serves to clarify the discrepancy.

These types of errors were not uncommon on budget label releases, particularly in the era of mass-produced CDs, and often corrected with such minor adjustments rather than reissuing the discs themselves. This particular release is a small collector’s item due to this error, especially among Madness fans and collectors of early CD pressings.
