Theatre Of The Absurd Introduces C’est La Vie
BACKGROUND
It was September 21st 2023, and the marketing for the new album indeed kicked into high gear with a fan-only announcement of a Limited Edition CD that included four brand new tracks from the then soon-to-be-announced album.
The band’s management informed the fans that three of the four tracks would be available for streaming on the day of the single release. However, the fourth track will only be available when the complete album is released.
The Exclusive CD, only available from Townsend Music Online, was priced at £5.00 (US$7.00) plus postage and packing. It was announced that the CD would be sent out on the same day the album was announced. However, it should be noted that this CD was limited to two units per household. It quickly became evident that the CD was exclusive and extremely limited in quantity. As a result, it sold out in just 8 hours, leaving many fans empty-handed and frustrated.
At this point, a small group of individuals online grew furious and enraged, accusing everyone involved, including the management company, the record label BMG, and even the band MADNESS themselves, of engaging in foul play. The situation rapidly deteriorated as these individuals aggressively turned on other fans. The experience of jealousy, hostility, and disgusting behaviour towards their fellow fans was unparalleled and unprecedented. The incident was an uncomfortable exhibition of unreasonable and groundless outrage, resulting in a profoundly unwelcome and harmful experience for all Madness fans.
For the record, then we encountered the virtuous police, who began social aggression and intimidating sellers for attempting to disseminate any copies of the CD they may have owed. Now, granted, there will always be scalpers in this world; it’s been this way in history for millennia, but these scum were only constructing more contempt and intimidation and potentially pushing the price to elevated levels within the community. At one point, the CD sold on eBay for over £100.00 (US$ 125.00)
It’s time to set the record straight. These so-called “Madness fans” need to stop their insane behaviour and start showing some appreciation for the Madness rather than proving to us all the bad actors they genuinely are. They don’t have any mythical authority and shouldn’t act like they do. In the real world, losers will always be losers, while capitalists will continue to thrive and prosper. It’s just business as usual. It’s time to focus on what matters in life and stop causing unnecessary stress and chaos.
