OVERVIEW
Chris: I’ve got so many songs that I’ve written with Lee that have never seen the light of day, and I didn’t want these to get lost. In the end, a lot of mine and Thommo’s songs ended up on the ‘box set’ version of the album. So what happened was, we had all these songs left over. And I was determined to get them finished. So I went to a studio in Crouch End with this guy called Anthony Leung, and he had the job of trying to pull these things together.
‘Crying’, which Lee wrote with Keith Finch. It’s a really good song, actually, it definitely wouldn’t be out of place on the flippin’ Kilburn & The High Roads album. People were a bit dismissive of it, saying it sounded like pub rock. And I thought, “Pub rock was quite good”. Dr. Feelgood was genius. So I consider it an honour.
