I’d Do Anything (If I Could)

OVERVIEW, VIDEO, LYRICS, COMPOSERS, AND REVIEWS

LYRICS

I’ll do everything I can
Not to make you sad
I’ll try all the time I have
To be the best you’ve had
I’ll give you everything I got
To make things good
I’m here to lift you up

I’m here to pull you through

I’ll do anything
Anything for you
I’ll do anything
Anything, it’s true

If I could
You know I would
If I could
I know I should

I’ll give you everything I got
To make things good
I’m here to lift you up
And I’m here to pull you through

I’ll do anything
Anything for you
I’ll do anything
Anything, it’s true

Yes

If I could (If I could)
Oh you know I would (you know I would)
If I could (If I could)
I know I should

Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh my baby

EDITORS REVIEW

Oh my goodness! What on earth is going on here? This track has Foreman's signature all over it, instantly conjuring up images of Craggy Island. Did Zoom Boy wrap up an epic binge-watching session of Father Ted? The monotonous drone of "I’d Do Anything (If I Could)" is a masterclass in lyrical dullness. It's doubtful that the plucking sounds come from an actual guitarist; more likely, they're synthetic plucks or sampled muted guitar picks.

As with all Madness songs, Woody and Bedders provide the track’s backbone, while Mike Barson's quintessential tinkling on the ivory/organ adds a layer of charm. And, of course, Lee’s unmistakable saxophone solo makes its grand entrance, all held together by some skilful production wizardry using pro-tools software.

Foreman's tracks on "Theatre of the Absurd" often fall into the trap of repetitiveness, relying heavily on the band’s synergy, technological enhancements, and those oh-so-familiar Casio chord sequences.

TRACK RATING: 1/10
